Back in september I decided to go to north Wales for a long weekend in the last weeks of the years camping season.
The weekend served as a trial by fire test run for a new tent because as seems to be usual for me the days chosen were at the tail end of a storm with strong winds and heavy rain. Despite some trepidation it worked out perfectly as I was met with a quiet campsite and stunning conditions.
The tent, an OEX Hyena 2 that was replacing a vango soul 200 stayed dry and in one piece as well thankfully. While it is a bit large and heavy for a 2 man, not something that I would trek and wild camp with it is very waterproof and sturdy, ideal for chucking in the car for pitching at sites.
Photographically the weekend was a success as well, I captured a number of images that I am happy with featuring varied subjects and weather conditions over the course of those few days.
As I was driving in on the first day I stopped at Maentwrog Dam, on the second day I walked up and through Dinorwig Slate Quarry from the National slate museum at Llanberis and on the third I hiked up and along Glyder Fawr from the national trust car park at Llyn Ogwen.
